San Pablo Prayer Gardens
The human soul is hungry for beauty. We seek it everywhere;
in landscapes, music, art, clothes, furniture, gardening, companionship, love, religion and ourselves. No one would desire not to be beautiful. When we experience the Beautiful, there is a sense of homecoming.
We feel most alive in the presence of the Beautiful. Beauty brings a sense of completion and sureness. When we are in desperate
situations, there is nowhere else to turn than to Beauty.

The Greek word for "the beautiful" is toKolan. It is related to the
word Kalein which includes the notion of "call." When we
experience beauty we feel called. We respond with joy to the
call of beauty. Even in the bleakest times, and precisely
in these times, we need Beauty the most. It was Blaise Paschal
who said: "In difficult times you should always carry something
beautiful in your mind." To behold beauty dignifies one's life.
To experience beauty is to have one's life enlarged.

You can visit our Prayer Gardens 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
They are especially beautiful during the Christmas season
when over half a million lights are on display.

"Beauty is to the Spirit what food is to the flesh.
It fills an emptiness in you which nothing else can fill."
